I think this book is worse is pronography child pornography. It has a very weak story, character development and describes lower alsmost no sense of place, but it unnecessarily torture of children in detail. Nicholas Kristof, columnist for the New York Times about child abuse in Asia without the sinister details are written in this book so it is possible to expose these appalling situations without pornographic details. I destroyed my copy of the book. It was a mistake to buy it. Rating: 5.1
inhumanity to man sent to merge with a look on the dark side of Thailand, is the author of our interest. Probably the first of a new series, which, like a fine introduction to a new hero with feet of clay. Rating: 5.4

He authored a series of LONELY PLANET style travelogues which cut to the heart of the straight of the straight skinny on travel for young male tourists. While exploring the straight skinny on Bankock sex tourist clubs our hero discerned the business behind the smile and got turned off to the sex trade. This is a 3. 5 book. It is a good read, the story is interesting, it is well written, and the characters are engaging. The problem is, I can’t help comparing with John Burdett and his Bangkok series, which I find superior. That is mostly because with Burdett it feels like seeing Bangkok both from the inside and outside (and is filled with great humor), but with A Nail Through the Heart, the angle is mostly foreign – from the outside only. This comparison is somewhat unfair, and I am guessing we will get more of inside Thailand from this series in the future. I intend to find out, as I’d like to know more of what will happen to Rafferty, Mieuw and Rose.

Poke Rafferty Mystery # 1 in Thailand Bangkok together. Poke is a travel writer in Bangkok with Meow, a young boy he has rescued from the street and (sometimes) by Rose, his girlfriend – a former bar girl who is now trying to start his own cleaning business. Poke hopes Miau, which costs a lot of money issued, it takes some detective work on the side, hoping to generate cash. Miaow brought a stray dog themselves, a boy some years older than her well-known in the streets as Superman – is a troubled youth, Miaow need to stay with them beharrt.Poke looks into the disappearance of a man in Australia for his niece who traveled to Bangkok to track him down after not hearing from him for several months. One son, he follows in this case leads to the house of Ms. Wing, who is retired, very wealthy woman, and then put it to the man who stole a security structure for the number of sensitive data, documents personnel who would destroy them. He does not like Ms. Wing, and when he begins to learn more about the taste the most cruel and horrible Uncle Ulrich Christmas, he hopes that he almost did not find it. And perhaps someone did not like sniff – a couple of crooked cops, some of Entourage Ms. Wing or someone else? Poke knows that he and his family as well as pavers, not be sure until he sees the two cases, by a sort of Auflösung.Schwer to say much more without betraying too. But even. . . . wow. Excellent first entry in the series, rich in cultural information, easy to read style that makes it difficult to put down and taken, in this fast-paced thriller, very poignant moments that you quickly popular and Poke Friends and his family. It is a difficult book to read, sometimes with the horrors she does, but an excellent book nonetheless. Not for the faint of heart shown – from violence and abuse, but in my opinion, they are certainly not “free”, but essential to the plot and history. What a great way to end the month! A + Rating: 5.5
