People’s Alliance for Democracy protesters forced Suvarnabhumi airport to close on november 26. 2008. You will see a one minute video of a speach from one of the PAD people outside the terminal. I was filming at about 8:50 this day. I was at the airport because my flight with Bangkok Airways PG 905 was sheduled at 11:35 to go to Siem Reap. All flights were cancelled that day. The airport opened again!! More information about my personal travel on my website: www.reiseberichte.bplaced.net

@Vuthapich I agreed with you 100000%, Thailand is already been curses by the Red Shirts, Remembered? the blood spilled. and their is more to that too.Thailand will never be recover Politically and Economically.
hell
It’s the airport authority who ordered the shutdown of the airports, not PAD. The airport could still function well. PAD only obstructed the road outside, while there are four other levels of easy accesses to the airport buildings. PAD did not interfere with the-passengers-officers-secure d zones-airport control. It is the smear of the government on PAD because the Head of the airport authority is a brother-in-law of Weera, the leader of red UDD, a strong supporter of the government and Thaksin
According to Thai astrology it states that “From year 2005 onwards Thai people will fight each other to death and to the destruction of the whole nation and their survival will be saved after they dare to kill their king.”
When you see the government officals take 10 and ‘give’ one back to spend on the people, you can see why people have had enough. It’s not like they are saying the rural areas don’t deserve the support.
BUT YOU MUST REALISE THAT IF 90% OF THE WEALTH CONTINUED TO GO TO ONLY 10% OF THE PEOPLE IN THAILAND THEN I WOULDN’T PUT UP WITH IT EITHER!!!
I mean thats what it’s like – forget the people who don’t have an opportunity to make a decent standard of living – your bad luck! Payback ???
going to harm them, but in the long term it would be much better.
You should try to get off the beaten western path and into the villages and back streets – its a different story… I did not say Thai people are dumb at all.
My experience is that the average wage is ~500Bhat per month. The villagers aren’t dumb, but they don’t get any say either – they leave it to the elders who are the ones collecting the cash for the benefit of the village. Its not democracy unless its an informed decision.
andersemanuel I agree with you – the court should decide – but these protests have been going many months BECAUSE I think no action was taking place.
mediamindcontrol – I’m neither Thai or went to university.
I did however spend alot of time getting to know the people one street over from the tourist zones, where I got to see for myself the desperation of people. It wasn’t pretty and talking to people who run businesses they felt the demonstrations were /cont.
“PeicaMeet”: Yeah Something Seriously wrong! These people KNOW they won’t die cause the ARMY is Backing them and even in their ranks! And The Ruling Elite are Bankrolling Them and paying their wages while absent from their”government” Jobs!!!Lese Majetse Old Garbage Law for Dummies! If a Person is good They don’t need such Primitive Shite laws!
LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE and DEMOCRACY!!!
SeekBeforeYouSpeak:
That’s the same old Garbage Story You have “Spammed” all over the Place! It is and has always been a LIE! 250 baht!? Haaaa! Most “Poor Dumb” villagers KNOW their vote is worth at LEAST 2500 baht(Not as “Dumb” as PAD Thinks!)!Your story is so full of holes! Perhaps it’s because your in Australia! And are out of touch!Ruling Class Rich little Uni student?
Democracy is a road and a path not a perfect solution. Respect for minorities, but also the ability to curb the religious fanatics that think they have divine rights.
I really love most aspects of Thai culture.
And I see a respect for human life not seen in many cultures.
Stay on the path for a clean and just society.
Best respect and regards
Anders
The man you are describing is a criminal.
Corruption can only be handled by a law.
I am not naive but I believe there is no way back once a country has started it’s march to democracy.
I believe a court declared the present government illegal. THAT is the way to handle criminal behavior. My country has been a democracy for 85 years and we still have serious problems to handle, as the people and the world evolves.

andersemanuel You speaking about democracy like voting is fair in Thailand ??? – try this :
A man comes to your village, he says “I’m standing for government. I’ll give you as headman 250Baht for every vote you get me.” So as Village headman you enroll the entire village to vote his way. Without knowing WHY or WHAT he is going to do with his election… Apart from make the village elders richer than they have ever been.
Sound like a system open to exploitation to you ???
All the above is just stupid bullshit.
The Elites hired Sondhi to fool some buffalows.
All quilties that been charged for Taksin is from military junta.
All trial set base on illegal and injustice judges.
SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG for these PAD not to budge. DEMOCRACY CAN WAIT. TOURISM CAN WAIT. Something is SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE GOVERNMENT FOR THESE PEOPLE NOT AFRAID TO DIE….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
> selling of national assets
> buying votes

> THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON AND ON….
People all over the world at any given time have to deal with bad politics affecting their lives negatively. Comparatively (i.e. Iraq) losing some business short term is nothing to cry about. Of course it’s shitty. My point is the issue is obviously “bigger” as in more important than the minor inconvenience it’s causing for travelers. I am not taking sides. It’s convenient to use throw around a word like brainwash..so to humor you: maybe you’ve been brainwashed to think it’s NOT bigger
You’ve been brainwashed to think it’s much bigger. This is affecting lives and business of normal Thai people. While Taksin is bad, he never did anything this shitty!
get over yourselves. this is about something so much bigger than you and your inconveniences. welcome to the real world you sheltered tourist swine. loosen up and open your eyes to this experience, we are living in exciting and important times…and don’t pretend to take sides in a conflict you don’t understand. the most dangerous way to be in this world is ignorant.
dude, they’re saying that the gov. is stealing from the country. NO!! You guys are!! Tourism industry is f_ _ _ ing SCREWED because of these yellow shirts people!!!
People Against Democrazy…2008.. fantastic
If you screem and shout really loud, and make life a mess for other people, a democraticly elected goverment have to leave.. right? NOT..
I hope the non PAD Thai people get that you VOTE a goverment out of office.
Work this out so we can look at you with respect and love as before.
Luckily some airlines were able to divert operation to U-Tapao International Airport. Although it is far away from Bangkok but it is safe from protester and well guarded.
amnuaymann or however your name is spelt. Doesnt PAD stands for People Alliance for Democracy and not People Against Democracy? Get you facts straight! The preview even said so.
Meh…With all this shit going on, the prime minister should consider resigning and hold another election or sumthin. I’m actually a Thai living in the US and i plan to go back soon. I dont mind going back a few days later so long as this problem is resolved.
ประเทศฉิบหายหมดแล้ว
The whole world thinks PAD is ridiculous now. Well done for showing us
